One of the things that sucked about this job when I first started (my present job) was the incessant jockeying for position by tenants, vendors and contractors. It was like take a number and get in line to -F- me!
Most of them were big Goombas who loved to throw their weight around just like they did in grade school (believe me I know the type) but are just really stupid as the day is long…Bullies…Christmas 2002-
Trash Guy: You know the previous owners took care of us…Manager: Oh? What do you mean?
Trash Guy: They paid us good money…
Manager: Oh…I don’t have any money
(wrong answer)
So here’s this asshole shaking me down. He’s already making killing of a salary with benefits short hours, retirement to look forward to…What do I have? SHIT!
Scum bag! After I didn’t pay him he was always crappy to me, dumping trash, skipping barrels, stealing my covered barrels and leaving me with crappy ones. The guy was one of the stupidest human beings I’ve ever met! I remember him talking to his co-worker one day that he had seen his favorite movie the night before… “SWAT”…Holy crap! He was bigger and tougher than me and He had to let me know it… friggin bully…I hate bullies!
I’ve had contractors skip out on work leaving me to deal with their shoddy workmanship.
One time I had a Contractor who couldn’t shut off a hot water stop in the building while doing a remodel, so the boneheads ran a hose from the supply valve and into the tub and went home. The tenants went crazy on me, because it became my problem. What were they thinking? The same idiots dumped water in to an electrical circuit blew the electricity in the building and of course went home. I had no idea what the problem was until a few weeks later when someone from the company confessed to me…only cause they were disgruntled too. They cut telephone lines and denied it. dumped concrete and waste beneath floor boards that caved in the ceiling beneath. For crying out loud!
I had an Argentinian maintenance man with roid rage corner me in my shop one day, I thought it was gonna be my last day on earth. He was a body builder and would try to convince me that I needed to take steroids so I wouldn’t be so skinny. I’ll stay skinny thanks.
I like this blog cause at least some can see the layer of crap just below the surface that I have to deal with from day to day and I’m able to vent about it. Hopefully sometimes it can make for interesting reading. Thanks for letting me vent.
I’ll feel better in the morning when the cycle begins.
I can only hope.
Goombas!
